Pretty Pinks for Pink Saturday...

A HUGE shout-out to Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for hosting such a FUN event every Saturday. Please stop by her blog and visit everyone's lovely pinks on the list!

If you need to know ANYTHING about New Jersey, it is common knowledge that Cape MAy IS THE CAPITAL of Victorian Mansions...I mean the row by row, ornate, scrolly porch, stain glass bliss kind! Can you take a guess which one is my favorite???...take a peek... How sweet is this sign, LOVE the pink vintage bike...
Isn't she a lovely pink vision, just wish the powerlines weren't there! Oh my, I can picture myself reading on that porch!

Ok, back to REALITY, ( :

A project that I did this week...an old dresser (I mean old)...what to do with that stinking bottom drawer that was warped beyond repair, now I know why it was sitting on top of the dresser when I found it, but it was FREE! Hmmmm, think...I added a platforn where the bottom drawer use to be, painted her white and added a few baskets and fancy box and WALLLAHH...
Here are a few other of my favorite pink projects that I hope you will enjoy...A wonderful yardsale find, upholstered with my all time favorite barkcloth, (yep, I do all of my own upholstery work, strip to bear bones, re-spring and cover!) yummy pink roses!
I found this lovely sweety in the GARBAGE, it was a HOT MESS! Look at her now...

Last but not least, can't forget the cheapy PINK plastic swirly bowls that I grabbed up at the grocery store for $1.00 each...amazing what cheap plastic can do to a person when colored pink, but I love them! ( :
Have a Happy Pink saturday, and remember...

PINK, A SOPHISTICATED SHADE OF WELCOME.

A Long Week...Thanks!

Good morning, I would like to thank all of you who posted on my blog last week for pink saturday and sent their well wishes for my kitty Angel. She passed away last weekend, quietly, I'm still trying to get use to her not being with me after 17 years, it's hard. My daughter picked her out of a litter back in 1993 and she's been a real joy to our family, we all miss her so much. My vet, a VERY huge hearted man, volunteers his services to our local shelter, freely treats hurt animals left by the side of the road, told me this...
"I've seen so many unwanted animals come through this office and shelter, not one tear shed for their existence and ending. Angel was a very lucky girl to have a family and tears shed for her life knowing she was loved."

Well, now that I'm crying again...
I'll see you all tomorrow for Pink Saturday! ( :

Pink Saturday...

Happy Pink Saturday, thanks again to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for hosting such a fun event! Please click on the link for Pink Saturday and be sure to visit all of the wonderful pinks in the blogs listed on Beverly's blog!
I love making Victoran style teacup pin cushions and I have one for you with lovely handmade, (of course by me), pink satin ribbon roses and satin greenery.

I apologize for my very short Pink Saturday blog, We had to rush my 17yr old kitty Angel to the vets. We found out in the beginning of the week that she has diabetes, yesterday her heart started to fail. It's hard when she's been a part of my life for 17years. The Vet is still working on her, but it doesn't look good at all. Most likely I'll be at the Vet's office most of the day.

A Few Angel Facts...

Sometimes, don't you just slightly feel it? A fluttering touch on the cheek...a slight "tug" on a wisp of hair...a soft cautious warning whisper of your name when you know you shouldn't do that something you want to do and regret it later? For those of you, me myself and I, ( : who believe in Guardian Angels here are a few inspirational facts that you might enjoy reading...

An Angel is someone who helps you believe in miracles again.

On earth, an Angel's wings are inside.

An Angel's voice is beautiful because he always speaks the truth.

Angels see right through your wall.

An Angel does not give up or give in, He just gives.

You can always see Angels' protecting light shine on the still faces of sleeping children.

When we were small, we all listened to the Angel inside us.

I hope you find your Angel, if you haven't already!

Pink Ballerinas for Pink Saturday...

Happy Pink Saturday!
I love pink roses, but I think almost, yep ALMOST...up there, near next to..I love pink ballerinas, especially vintage ones!
These two sweeties, I found them at a thrift store in PA, they were yellow and gold, mounted in the gold frames with a black velvet background, YUCKIE!!
The ballerinas hail from the 1960's and are ceramic, truly precious.
Oh what ALOT of pink and white paint, ribbon and pink paper roses can do!...

Now, I have to celebrate Christmas in July, and what better way than on Pink Saturday in July! Yet another pink ballerina, I made her into a flirty, flouncy and fabulous stocking...sweet pink satins too...

Last but not least, of course I have to include pink roses, wouldn't be Pink Saturday to me if I didn't. I JUST finished this "frankenstein" lamp yesterday. Why do I call it that you might ask...well, every part you see came from a different lamp...walllaahhhh "frankenstein" Lamp!" you know I would NEVER label it that in my shoppe, this is just a secret between me, my hubby and now you...shhhhhh! ( :

Have a fun filled weekend!

Hidden Suprises...

Have you ever had one (more like four) of those days when you just feel "off?" You know...sluggish, can't get out of your own way kinda day? I've just finished FOUR of them, along with a bad stomache, thank Heavens when I woke up this morning all was BETTER!! My hubby was home from work sick yesterday, he thinks I gave it to him, nawwwww not me! ( : Sorry sweetie!

About two weeks ago, I decided to start cleaning out and get ready for painting a vintage 1920's dresser.
Removing the drawers, unscrewing the handles, sanding....tipped the dresser over sideways to get into the hard nooks and crannys that seem to gather years of crud and dust, when out trickles two very knotted vintage gold necklaces!

I was able to untangle them, the clasp on the chain that the cross is on was broken and the chain that the cameo is on a bit tarnished and needs cleaning, other than that they are beautiful...WHAT A WONDERFUL SUPRISE!

If I hadn't purchased it at a thrift shop, but from someones home, I would certainly return the gems. My imagination can't help wandering back to a simpler place in time, to a lovely lady removing them while looking into the mirror that I have today. Hopefully her dismay losing her treasures were eased by another loving gift to replace them by her sweetheart. Yes, that's my imagination at work!

Good news for me, yippeee!! It's a DEFINITE, we're shopping the Longest Yardsale August 5th-8th!! If your not familiar with it, it is along Rt 127, starts in Michigan and goes all the way down into Alabama. We're going to start in Kentucky and shop until my "dough" runs out! Of course my hubby and I are hookin up our enclosed trailer for all the large finds...I hope to fill it up, I can't wait! I'll take plenty of pictures and blog, blog, blog about it when I get home.

Don't forget to stop back for Pink Saturday!

Passion for Pink Pillows...Happy Pink Saturday!

Just when I thought I cleared my calendar for Pink Saturday blog browsing, there's ALWAYS SOMETHING that gets wiggled in! My hubs and I have a furniture delivery in the morning, BUT I'll be back in the afternoon and a "Pink Saturday browsing" I will go, hope to visit all of you...so, Happy (day early) Pink Saturday!

I have a few pillows to share with you that I made using pretty pinks! My husband is in the process of creating my SHOPPE on my website...SO...I've been busy in my workroom sewing away for the big grand opening day...plus...hint...hint...hint...I want to have a special blog "GIVE AWAY" coming up very soon, so keep checking back!psssstt..I'm working on taking better inside pictures with my new camera too, lol! ( :

LOVE LOVE LOVE making patchwork pillows with all kinds of sweet vintage snippets and bauble adornments!

Pretty sweet back too!

Fun and FRILLY, my "Scrappy Cottage" pillow, everything but the kitchen sink! I make the edge using looped laces, ribbons, white ric-rac and vintage hem tape..if it can be looped, it will be on there!

I found this vintage pillowcase cotton at a local estate sale, still wrapped in plastic, never opened. I made two standard size bed pillows, I've only taken a pic of one...notice how much I like to use this sweet pink tiny rose fabric by Rachel Ashwell, YUMMMMMM!

At the same estates sale, I found an UNOPENED, still in the manufactures plastic bag,SWEET pillowcases! I made them into pillow sham covers, there are two, standard/possibly queen, they were a bit large in size. More Rachel Ashwell fabric was added as an inside peek-a-boo ruffle and I put button holes so the pink ribbon can be threaded through securing the pillow inside.

I have more handmade suprises in store during the week....Have a FANTASTIC Pink Saturday, God bless!

OUCH! Darn Sewing Needle...Amazing Tip, Watch Stain Dissapear...

My PATIENT hubby is working on my website, I hope to open a new online Shoppe within the next month or so...depending on just HOW patient or how long it takes for his patience to run out! lol! In the meantime, since I have my booth at Teaberry filled, I've been working on items (pretties) to fill the shelves in my online Shoppe when it opens.

I'm SURE if you are a seamstress, avid sewer or just dabbled in sewinghere and there...it NEVER fails...OUCH! That DARN needle, then the dripping of blood...Oh NOOOO not on that!

Here's a tip that I learned about 20 years ago while working in an Interior Decorator's workroom...
Take a REALLY long length of WHITE (don't use color)thread, preferably cotton, but poly/cotton will work.
Wadd the thread up into a ball, then put it in your mouth, sorry but yes like a spit ball.
Then, rub it on the blood stain, you will see it disapear and disolve the blood.
Bet you didn't know that your own enzymes in your saliva break down blood, only your own blood. It won't work on someone elses, they have to use their own saliva.
It's a nasty remedy, but it truly works!!
~Hope to see you Pink Saturday, enjoy the tip!~

Real to Silk...

I would like to thank all of you for such a warm welcome to Pink Saturday (and blogger land), I had a blast!

I've visited about half-way down the list, so far, before I had to run errands Saturday, but I WILL be visiting each and everyone of you this weekend...I cleared my day already, can't wait! What beautiful blogs and websites AND the TALENT! Many Blessings to all of my new sweet friends.

Today is going to be a hot one...already have my AC running in my workroom. Our house is tiny, cozy , but tiny, actually, it's a refurbished old 2 bdrm hunting cabin. Thanks to my dad and hubby, about 5 years ago, I now have a seperate building built all just for me! It's heated in the winter and AC in the summer...lots of room for my huge mess that I always seem to make. lol!

I love making silk arrangements, of course I would rather have the real ones, but with the right quality silks they look amazingly real. This is what I'll be working on today (sorry for the blurry pic, I'm not "camera friendly" as of yet ( :)
Vintage teapots make a PERFECT vase...

Not to mention a metal watering urn...

add the right frilly bow and thrift store find pearls!
(((hugs))) to all of you...I have a few vintage teapots that need tending too...

Their Courage...Happy 4Th of July

Their Courage
by Roger Robicheau

Their courage deems utmost respect
Their mission clear, our way protect

It’s sure to each what they must do
No give or take, keep freedom true

With the grand old flag, they'll unite
Whenever they must, march to fight

A life we know counts hard on them
Without their ranks, hellish problem

If our Armed Forces ceased to be
How long could we survive as free

Let’s well realize the truthful score
We need our troops just like before

Boils down to this, words to engrave
Land of The Free, Due to The Brave

God Bless each one for being there
Their loved ones too, unending care

Hope born from love touches the will
Do back them strong, means to fulfill

Americans – Who Serve To Give
One Nation – Under God We Live

Today, as you wander down your path of the day careFREE,

as you get closer to your destination,
weather it be a celebration or a serene quite day with a cup of coffee or tea,
reflect back and give thanks to the ones who made it possible for you to walk FREE, live FREE and fulfill your desired dreams FREELY.

Happy 4Th of July!
I've shared pictures of my path from my backyard.

Pink Saturday...

Today's Pink Saturday, Thank you Beverly from How Sweet The Sound for hosting! Click on the picture on you right and it will take you to Beverly's blog for a list of all the participants, make sure you visit all of us!

My first favorite pink-thing is a bit weird but cute, we found it at a yardsale and I fell for it! I think it's from the 60's, how sweet are those bunnies?!

This is a print that I found at a thrift store in town. It's a signed sketch of a pink perfume bottle design, wish I knew where to purchase the perfume!

Yummy pink cupcake pincushion, I love making them! They're made from old sweaters that I find at yardsales and thrift shops, sometimes I even go into my booth at Teaberry and a customer had left a bag of them for me at the front desk.

Can't wait to start sewing using this pretty pink rose ribbon! I found this at an Estate sale, it came out of an old New York millinery factory.

Sweet pink velvet rose pin! My hubby and I were on a trip to Georgia, stopped in a broken-down railroad town that had only a few mom and pop stores left and this was left on the counter many, many years a ago. The owner and I got talking about "things" and of course PINK came up. To my suprise this little feeble old womans slips out from behind the counter and gave me this rose pin. She thinks it fell off of a dress back in the early 60's when custmers came after a formal dance to eat. I cherish it.

Last but not least, one of my favorite books...just happens to be a darker shade of pink!
Thorns and Thrones by B.J. Hoff
Encouraging Words for Faithful Living.

THORNS...
the stress of hectic living
the dissapointment of broken dreams
the sorrow o unexpected loss

THRONES...
the triumph of a risen Savior
the peace of a surrendered life
the reward of a faithful soul

I hope everyone enjoys looking and browsing Pink Saturday, have a lovely rest of the day!
