After literally almost two weeks of internet, email and website problems...which are STILL NOT fixed, I'm able to get on using my netbook...which is VERY limited! I can't BEGIN to explain the procedures that I have to go throught just to get pictures up! Please bear with me!

When technology is "down for the count" you don't realize just how much you miss it. Imagine back in the late 80's-early 90's saying..."Wait a minute gotta answer my cell." what did we do then, run to the nearest corded phone or ...remember these things...a PHONE BOOTH!
Lately, when I have the time, I REALLY try to make time, I do!,we started watching TCM Turner Classic Movies, no joke, we really like watching them...of course after Ice Road Truckers (seriously, YUCK! sorry Mark) I find myself wondering what would they think of a cellphone or computer? Gone with The Wind was on again the other night...scene: wagon in middle of burning town falling down around them, change the script to todays standards..."Here Scarlet, got a few bars left, call Rhett and get us out of this inferno!" while Mark is saying (very loudly might I add with excitement like we can reach in and grab it) "Check-out that table in the background!"
Sometimes I long for the days when things weren't so complicated, when you actually talked, wrote by snail mail and even visited a friend for the afternoon.
Well, talk about finding time, I've been so busy getting ready for my upcoming 3 day show that I need a 28hr day instead of 24! I would like to share with you some of my goodies that i will be offering, I've been hard at work!
Here's a bench that me and Mark made from a twin headboard and footboard...Love the fluffy cushion!

One of my favorite things to create are broken china mosaics. Here's a pie crust tilt top table that my mom found at a yardsale for $5, hopefully it looks like a lot more now!

Some, not pink, but shabby autumn anyways, my version of a pumpkin with a little bling!

with all the problems happening with my internet and email, I hope to get back on for Pink Saturday, it's been awhile! Hope everyone has a wonderfull fall day! I love this time of year...pretty leaves falling from the trees and cooler weather!
I will say, I did get plenty of projects finished, for my booth and a HUGE convention center show in October that I'm in (lots to work towards!).
A HUGE Happy 21st Birthday to my daughter Alyssa, actually it's tomorrow, but I'll be away most of the day at a breast cancer auction/fundraiser event, Love you!

"I have this little angel. For me she left her wings.
She has no idea how much happiness she truly brings.
She brightens up my days with her smiles and her laughs.
She helps me to remember all the blessings that I have.

I know that God must love me, He showed me with His Grace
I knew just how completely when I saw my angel's face.
And in that very moment when she came into my world,
I knew that she was so much more than just my baby girl.

She would be my sunshine, with a sweetness that won't end.
And when she grows up one day she would be my closest friend."

All I can say is this old birdhouse is AWESOME!!
This sweet thing was sitting out at the road (curb)all by it's lonesome...had to have it...but it was way too big for me to pick-up and toss into my SUV all by my self.
Bye for now, hoping, crossing my fingers and praying NOBODY would snatch her up before my hubby came home from work. "Not until dark, you know I don't like picking until dark." was Mark's reply...while I wined and begged to go NOW!
FINALLY, in the SUV we went...the anxiety of not knowing if it would be there or not was torture! Oh YES!...YES...YES! there it was, STILL there...me pulling off to the side of the road (skidding to a hault)while Mark had his door half open..."Pop the hatch Karen, hurry up!" I didn't realize that this thing wold almost fill the entire back of my vehicle!
Oh look at her, I can't wait to fix her up. I think it's going to need new wood on the roof...broken china mosaics perhaps?

"Hmmmm, smells like little tiny birdies!" My dog Missy loves chasing birds, she NEVER catches any though.

"What birdie? I didn't eat NO birdie!" ( :
I promise to show you a picture of it when I'm done!
Have a wonderful Pink Saturday, I won't be participating this week...miss you all!
My hubby and I had a WONDERFUL time, this was our first longest yardsale vacation and it was WELL worth it! We decided to choose one state, thank goodness, because we really didn't get through half of it... we chose Kentucky.
Mark hitched up our 24ft cargo trailer to the truck and away we went...
The sale ran from Aug. 5th -8th...we decided to start on the 6th, figuring that there would be more on Friday than on Thursday, from what we were told. We headed to the bottom of K.Y. close to the border of T.N.
I apologize in advance, I admit, I forgot my camera on the truck seat many times in my frenzied EXCITED haste to flee to awaiting front lawns! ( :

As soon as Mark turned on to 127, my eyes popped... the choirs sang...behold, I was in my glory!

and on and on, as far as the eyes could see, it was YARDSALE HEAVEN!
look at all the vintage buttons, lots of vintage sewing supplies under this tent!
Hmmmm...what would they look like painted pink??...NOT!
"Hey Mark, I DARE you to try them on for $20.00"...saved by the "cell"...that phone is going to stick there one of these days!

There were carnivals and fairs too...

My dad collects vintage lanterns, I mean HE COLLECTS VINTAGE LANTERNS...has HUNDREDS of them! BUT, I FOUND five that he DID NOT have...in my dad's words when I called,..."That's
where the GOOD OL'E BOYS are, GOOD OL'E BOY country!" I'm thrilled that I was able to add to my dad's collection. Now that's a habit I don't mind supporting!

It was a long, but fun trip, we didn't quite fill the trailer, but I bought MANY great finds and I'll show them to you in my next set of pictures.
First of all, my hubby Mark is the best...the patience of a Saint! It's a wonderful feeling when you have a husband, partner & friend that has the same interests and likes as you do. I CAN BE, more than I like to admit, over-bearing, pushy, picky, winey...he puts up with me. I'm greatful and blessed to have him by my side, LOVE YOU!
NOW, the big reveal!
MY favorite item from the entire trip...LOVED this vanity as soon as I saw it! Not to mention the price was RIGHT...$30.00!
Here's an overview of all my goodies...

Nice $5.00 coffee table!
Traincase, metal cracker caddy and a complet set of Lady Baltimore Sasparilla advertisement playing cards...check at the end of this post for a giveaway!

All the crochet table cloths and doilies I bought for 50. each...last day sale! Loved this lamp too!
Two sewing drawers, plates for my mosaics and vintage rose Avon containers!
Fabrics and vintage wooden LARGE spools that I plan on making into hat stands!
LOVE vintage postcards! These are from 1908-1910...While I was in Kenturcky, my Mom was at a local town-wide yardsale...she always finds the BEST "STUFF" things that I need or I'm looking for...Mom always seems to find them! My Mom and her friend Barbara...thanks for the pillowcases Barbara!!...found alot of great things...

Sweet lamps...
Pretty vintage pillowcases for my pillowcase dresses!
A bag of glass prisms for my shabby chandeliers...
Thanks again Mom!!
I would like to include a few tips that I learned to make your trip a bit easier if you plan on attending next years world's longest yardsale.
~Bring a cooler with ice and drinks, especially water.~
~Pick a state, don't try to do more than you can, there's always next year.~
~Add up the mileage on 127 bottom of state to top of state. Allow about 12-15 miles a day and make your motel reservations at the end of every 20-25 miles. You can always cancel reservations or back-track to sales.~
~Bring sun screen, wear sneakers, and wear a sun viser.~

Please stop by her blog and visit everyone's lovely pinks on the list!

If you need to know ANYTHING about New Jersey, it is common knowledge that Cape MAy IS THE CAPITAL of Victorian Mansions...I mean the row by row, ornate, scrolly porch, stain glass bliss kind! Can you take a guess which one is my favorite???...take a peek... How sweet is this sign, LOVE the pink vintage bike...
Isn't she a lovely pink vision, just wish the powerlines weren't there! Oh my, I can picture myself reading on that porch!
Ok, back to REALITY, ( :
A project that I did this week...an old dresser (I mean old)...what to do with that stinking bottom drawer that was warped beyond repair, now I know why it was sitting on top of the dresser when I found it, but it was FREE! Hmmmm, think...I added a platforn where the bottom drawer use to be, painted her white and added a few baskets and fancy box and WALLLAHH...
Here are a few other of my favorite pink projects that I hope you will enjoy...A wonderful yardsale find, upholstered with my all time favorite barkcloth, (yep, I do all of my own upholstery work, strip to bear bones, re-spring and cover!) yummy pink roses!
I found this lovely sweety in the GARBAGE, it was a HOT MESS! Look at her now...

Last but not least, can't forget the cheapy PINK plastic swirly bowls that I grabbed up at the grocery store for $1.00 each...amazing what cheap plastic can do to a person when colored pink, but I love them! ( :
She passed away last weekend, quietly, I'm still trying to get use to her not being with me after 17 years, it's hard. My daughter picked her out of a litter back in 1993 and she's been a real joy to our family, we all miss her so much. My vet, a VERY huge hearted man, volunteers his services to our local shelter, freely treats hurt animals left by the side of the road, told me this...
"I've seen so many unwanted animals come through this office and shelter, not one tear shed for their existence and ending. Angel was a very lucky girl to have a family and tears shed for her life knowing she was loved."
Well, now that I'm crying again...
I'll see you all tomorrow for Pink Saturday! ( :
I love making Victoran style teacup pin cushions and I have one for you with lovely handmade, (of course by me), pink satin ribbon roses and satin greenery.

I apologize for my very short Pink Saturday blog, We had to rush my 17yr old kitty Angel to the vets. We found out in the beginning of the week that she has diabetes, yesterday her heart started to fail. It's hard when she's been a part of my life for 17years. The Vet is still working on her, but it doesn't look good at all. Most likely I'll be at the Vet's office most of the day.
A fluttering touch on the cheek...a slight "tug" on a wisp of hair...a soft cautious warning whisper of your name when you know you shouldn't do that something you want to do and regret it later? For those of you, me myself and I, ( : who believe in Guardian Angels here are a few inspirational facts that you might enjoy reading...

An Angel is someone who helps you believe in miracles again.

On earth, an Angel's wings are inside.

An Angel's voice is beautiful because he always speaks the truth.

Angels see right through your wall.

An Angel does not give up or give in, He just gives.

You can always see Angels' protecting light shine on the still faces of sleeping children.

I love pink roses, but I think almost, yep ALMOST...up there, near next to..I love pink ballerinas, especially vintage ones!
These two sweeties, I found them at a thrift store in PA, they were yellow and gold, mounted in the gold frames with a black velvet background, YUCKIE!!
The ballerinas hail from the 1960's and are ceramic, truly precious.
Oh what ALOT of pink and white paint, ribbon and pink paper roses can do!...

Now, I have to celebrate Christmas in July, and what better way than on Pink Saturday in July! Yet another pink ballerina, I made her into a flirty, flouncy and fabulous stocking...sweet pink satins too...

Last but not least, of course I have to include pink roses, wouldn't be Pink Saturday to me if I didn't. I JUST finished this "frankenstein" lamp yesterday. Why do I call it that you might ask...well, every part you see came from a different lamp...walllaahhhh "frankenstein" Lamp!" you know I would NEVER label it that in my shoppe, this is just a secret between me, my hubby and now you...shhhhhh! ( :

Have a fun filled weekend!
You know...sluggish, can't get out of your own way kinda day? I've just finished FOUR of them, along with a bad stomache, thank Heavens when I woke up this morning all was BETTER!! My hubby was home from work sick yesterday, he thinks I gave it to him, nawwwww not me! ( : Sorry sweetie!
About two weeks ago, I decided to start cleaning out and get ready for painting a vintage 1920's dresser.
Removing the drawers, unscrewing the handles, sanding....tipped the dresser over sideways to get into the hard nooks and crannys that seem to gather years of crud and dust, when out trickles two very knotted vintage gold necklaces!
I was able to untangle them, the clasp on the chain that the cross is on was broken and the chain that the cameo is on a bit tarnished and needs cleaning, other than that they are beautiful...WHAT A WONDERFUL SUPRISE!
If I hadn't purchased it at a thrift shop, but from someones home, I would certainly return the gems. My imagination can't help wandering back to a simpler place in time, to a lovely lady removing them while looking into the mirror that I have today. Hopefully her dismay losing her treasures were eased by another loving gift to replace them by her sweetheart. Yes, that's my imagination at work!

Good news for me, yippeee!! It's a DEFINITE, we're shopping the Longest Yardsale August 5th-8th!! If your not familiar with it, it is along Rt 127, starts in Michigan and goes all the way down into Alabama. We're going to start in Kentucky and shop until my "dough" runs out! Of course my hubby and I are hookin up our enclosed trailer for all the large finds...I hope to fill it up, I can't wait! I'll take plenty of pictures and blog, blog, blog about it when I get home.

Don't forget to stop back for Pink Saturday!
My hubs and I have a furniture delivery in the morning, BUT I'll be back in the afternoon and a "Pink Saturday browsing" I will go, hope to visit all of you...so, Happy (day early) Pink Saturday!
I have a few pillows to share with you that I made using pretty pinks! My husband is in the process of creating my SHOPPE on my website...SO...I've been busy in my workroom sewing away for the big grand opening day...plus...hint...hint...hint...I want to have a special blog "GIVE AWAY" coming up very soon, so keep checking back!psssstt..I'm working on taking better inside pictures with my new camera too, lol! ( :
LOVE LOVE LOVE making patchwork pillows with all kinds of sweet vintage snippets and bauble adornments!
Pretty sweet back too!
Fun and FRILLY, my "Scrappy Cottage" pillow, everything but the kitchen sink! I make the edge using looped laces, ribbons, white ric-rac and vintage hem tape..if it can be looped, it will be on there!

I found this vintage pillowcase cotton at a local estate sale, still wrapped in plastic, never opened. I made two standard size bed pillows, I've only taken a pic of one...notice how much I like to use this sweet pink tiny rose fabric by Rachel Ashwell, YUMMMMMM!
At the same estates sale, I found an UNOPENED, still in the manufactures plastic bag,SWEET pillowcases! I made them into pillow sham covers, there are two, standard/possibly queen, they were a bit large in size. More Rachel Ashwell fabric was added as an inside peek-a-boo ruffle and I put button holes so the pink ribbon can be threaded through securing the pillow inside.
I have more handmade suprises in store during the week....Have a FANTASTIC Pink Saturday, God bless!
Darn Sewing Needle...Amazing Tip, Watch Stain Dissapear...My PATIENT hubby is working on my website, I hope to open a new online Shoppe within the next month or so...depending on just HOW patient or how long it takes for his patience to run out! lol! In the meantime, since I have my booth at Teaberry filled, I've been working on items (pretties) to fill the shelves in my online Shoppe when it opens.
I'm SURE if you are a seamstress, avid sewer or just dabbled in sewinghere and there...it NEVER fails...OUCH! That DARN needle, then the dripping of blood...Oh NOOOO not on that!
Here's a tip that I learned about 20 years ago while working in an Interior Decorator's workroom...
Take a REALLY long length of WHITE (don't use color)thread, preferably cotton, but poly/cotton will work.
Wadd the thread up into a ball, then put it in your mouth, sorry but yes like a spit ball.
Then, rub it on the blood stain, you will see it disapear and disolve the blood.
Bet you didn't know that your own enzymes in your saliva break down blood, only your own blood. It won't work on someone elses, they have to use their own saliva.
It's a nasty remedy, but it truly works!!
~Hope to see you Pink Saturday, enjoy the tip!~
What beautiful blogs and websites AND the TALENT! Many Blessings to all of my new sweet friends.
Today is going to be a hot one...already have my AC running in my workroom. Our house is tiny, cozy , but tiny, actually, it's a refurbished old 2 bdrm hunting cabin. Thanks to my dad and hubby, about 5 years ago, I now have a seperate building built all just for me! It's heated in the winter and AC in the summer...lots of room for my huge mess that I always seem to make. lol!
I love making silk arrangements, of course I would rather have the real ones, but with the right quality silks they look amazingly real. This is what I'll be working on today (sorry for the blurry pic, I'm not "camera friendly" as of yet ( :)
Vintage teapots make a PERFECT vase...

Not to mention a metal watering urn...

add the right frilly bow and thrift store find pearls!
(((hugs))) to all of you...I have a few vintage teapots that need tending too...
Click on the picture on you right and it will take you to Beverly's blog for a list of all the participants, make sure you visit all of us!
My first favorite pink-thing is a bit weird but cute, we found it at a yardsale and I fell for it! I think it's from the 60's, how sweet are those bunnies?!

This is a print that I found at a thrift store in town. It's a signed sketch of a pink perfume bottle design, wish I knew where to purchase the perfume!

Yummy pink cupcake pincushion, I love making them! They're made from old sweaters that I find at yardsales and thrift shops, sometimes I even go into my booth at Teaberry and a customer had left a bag of them for me at the front desk.

Can't wait to start sewing using this pretty pink rose ribbon! I found this at an Estate sale, it came out of an old New York millinery factory.

Sweet pink velvet rose pin! My hubby and I were on a trip to Georgia, stopped in a broken-down railroad town that had only a few mom and pop stores left and this was left on the counter many, many years a ago. The owner and I got talking about "things" and of course PINK came up. To my suprise this little feeble old womans slips out from behind the counter and gave me this rose pin. She thinks it fell off of a dress back in the early 60's when custmers came after a formal dance to eat. I cherish it.

Last but not least, one of my favorite books...just happens to be a darker shade of pink!
I'm an early riser, can find me up at 5am and ready to get to work in my workroom, while my hubby sleeps until 7am when he has to get up for work. Today was a "clean out the mess" in my shop day, but I was looking forward to a wonderfully decadent cup of tea with lunch!
One of my favorite books that I LOVE to grab recipies from, called "An Invitation To TEA" Special Celebrations with Treasured Friends by Emilie Barnes with art by Sandy Lynam Clough (Her artwork is BEAUTIFUL!) was worth every cent and more! I would like to share a few recipies from this lovely book, try them...you won't be dissapointed! ( :

Come and share a pot of tea,
My home is warm
And my friendship's free.
Tangerine Special Tea (this one is yummy!)
4 Tangerine slices
12 whole cloves
4 sticks of cinnamon
2 tablespoons sugar
4 cups orange pekoe tea brewed with the rind of one tangerine

Stud each slice of tangering with 3 cloves. Now place a tangering slice, a cinnamon stick, and 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar in each cup. fill with hot tea from the pot. Serve, using the cinnamon stick to stir the tea.

I've given this Spiced Tea dry mix in fancy decorated containers as gifts with a vintage teacup set, wonderful gift! It makes alot, use one heaping tablespoon per cup.
Spiced Tea MIx
1 cup dry instant tea (can use decaffeinated)
2 cups dry powdered orange drink
3 cups sugar (may use half sugar substitute)
1/2 cup hot cinnamon candy (I crush it)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon powder cloves
1 pkg (about 1 cup)lemonade mix

Mix all ingredients and put in an air-tight container. Makes 1 1/2 quarts.
To give as a gift, pack i a small jelly jar with lid. Tie a ribbon across the neck including a fancy tablespoon. Also includ a label of directions for mixing "One heaping teblespoon to one cup hot water"

Enjoy your tea, (((hugs)))
WOOOOHOOOO!! We couldn't turn the SUV around fast enough, thank goodness we had our seat belts on! ( :
The thrill of finding such "gems in the rough" will NEVER get old, especially when their FREE lol! Ok, my 17 year old kitty, Angel, couldn't resist the photo-op...of course Miss Peacock had to venture up to see what was going on too, my pet of 5years. I will surely send many pictures when both of these sweeties are sportin' a new cottage make-over...I promise!
So you can get to know me a bit better, I've included a few pics of some of my work. I've been blessed to have a husband who suggested that I quit my unappealing, tiresome, boring and just down right horrible 9-5 job five years ago to do what my passion drives me to create...green light from hubby...all my decision...no guilt...no regrets. Been on cloud 9 ever since.
Until tomorrow....(((((hugs)))) to you!
